Afro-European
Sustainability Summit
Bridging Africa and Europe for Sustainable Trade, Climate Action and Shared Prosperity
Africa and Europe are increasingly connected through trade, investment, climate commitments, environmental governance and sustainability requirements.
As European sustainability policies evolve, African exporters, businesses and institutions face both emerging compliance challenges and new opportunities for green investment, technology cooperation and sustainable economic transformation.
The proposed Afro-European Sustainability Summit seeks to establish a high-level platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange, institutional partnerships and practical cooperation between African and European stakeholders.
Initiated by Angelo Climate & Sustainability Advisory (ACSA), the Summit aims to bring together policymakers, businesses, investors, development organisations, researchers and sustainability professionals to develop collaborative responses to shared sustainability challenges.
Why an Afro-European Sustainability Summit?
The relationship between Africa and Europe is entering a period of significant regulatory, environmental and economic transformation. European sustainability developments—including the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), corporate sustainability reporting requirements, supply-chain due diligence expectations and evolving product-related environmental standards are influencing international trade and business practices. For African economies, these developments may create challenges relating to compliance costs, emissions-data availability, technical capacity, certification, market access and investment readiness.
At the same time, they offer opportunities to strengthen sustainable production, attract climate finance, modernise industries, develop renewable energy resources and improve participation in international value chains. The Summit will seek to move beyond general policy discussions by encouraging practical partnerships, technical cooperation, investment connections and capacity-building initiatives.
Its central proposition is that sustainability requirements should become an opportunity for mutually beneficial transformation rather than an additional barrier to African economic development.
